BRAVO! Concert Series presents "Joseph Haydn: The Creation "
March 28, 2010 - 2:00pm
Considered by scholars to be Haydn’s greatest choral masterpiece, The Creation depicts and celebrates the creation of the world as described in the Book of Genesis. Inspired by the oratorios of Handel, it took Haydn a full two years to complete his Oratorio. Haydn himself said “I spent much time over it because I expect it to last for a long time.” Having endured the test of time, Haydn’s The Creation for Choir, Orchestra and Soloists remains one of the most beloved Oratorios in the classical repertoire.

Concert Chorus - University of the Philippines
April 11, 2010 - 4pm
Through the decades and across genres, the UPCC — otherwise fondly known as “Korus” — weaves through the musical spectrum with seasoned ease. While Korus performs admirably classical choral pieces, it does not limit itself to a particular genre; the choir’s vast repertoire includes various pieces from Broadway musicals, grand classical operas, Filipino zarzuelas, jazz , OPM, and even contemporary pop and rock songs. Coupled with lively and seamless choreography — a trademark feature the group has pioneered and mastered through the years — and fresh twists on the seemingly redundant choral scene, the UPCC never runs out of ways to make the group stand out from its contemporaries, boldly bringing choral performance to new heights. The UPCC has also been garnering numerous international and local awards from past to present. The most recent awards received are the Diploma of Excellence and Prix du Public at the 2008 Montreux Choral Festival, and the group’s fifth and second in-a-row ALIW Award for Best Choral Group this 2009.

Skyview High School Concert Hall
1300 NW 139th St
Vancouver, WA 98685
